Chunk by breath

Singers breathe at phrase boundaries even if line breaks on paper disagree. Play the line; mark where you would inhale.

Chunk by grammar

Prefer splits after:

  • Prepositional phrases (in the morning)
  • Small clauses (when I see you)

Avoid splitting fixed expressions (give up, run out of).

Chunk by rhyme

Couplets often pair two short chunks. Learn A, then B, then A+B.

Drill each chunk

  1. Listen
  2. Speak slowly 3× (line-by-line)
  3. Shadow with vocals 3×
  4. Solo without audio

String chunks

After three chunks (A, B, C), combine A+B, then B+C, then A+B+C.
